    Very good

It's beautiful location is the hotel's strength, but I liked the recent refurbishment of the rooms, and the relaxed but attentive service.

    Superb

Good service and good facilities in a beautiful setting

The waiter service in the reaturant was a little annoying in so much as we where interupted a number of times by different waiters asking the same questions ie have you ordered yet. This happend each time we used it. I would have expected each table to be allocated one waiter at a time as is normally the case.

    Superb

We have stayed several times over the last 10 years and the hotel seems to have improved in standards from when it was the Stakis Ladore, the location is remote (in a quiet/relaxing way), and is blessed with stunning views.

Only small gripes, we had 2 young children, 7 & 4, and we would have liked a childs menu during the dinner times of 7pm to say 7.30pm, as the earlier times were no good for us, as we were out enjoying the lovely weather!, also, our bathroom door was fitted with a rather brutal self-closing device that injured our childrens feet & my side.

    Very good

Very nice staff, great breakfast, very polite waiting staff and resturant manager - didnt seem to mind 1 yr old baby making a mess. Nice dining room, great views.

Bathroom felt very stuffy and stale on checking in (obviously no internal window) wish that it had been properly aired before our arrival. Swimming pool etc.is a good space but all a bit tatty. It was an expensive night away for a friends wedding but didnt feel that it was absolute luxury- decor seemed very old fashioned. Sorry!

    Superb

We found that the staff were exceptionally well trained. The facilities were very good especially the gym and the pool. The quality of our room was of a high standard

  • 8.2
    Fabulous

Comfortable lobby, well equipped rooms, beautiful dining room, striking view out of the window, clean spa, large room

Small bathroom without shower, expensive restaurant

  • 7.4
    Very good

The falls themselves are pretty, the hotel is pleasant if slight old fashioned in decor, and it's very close to go walking and enjoy the lakes. Tennis and swimming, both in and outdoor were very good. We stayed in the Borrowdale suite which was nice and had (the hotel's only) balcony looking out over Derwentwater.

The decor was somewhat dated, though perhaps not intended to appeal to young couples.

    Exclusive

It was a perfect total hotel experience - spotless cleanliness in a relaxed, friendly and professional environment with a bed guaranteed to offer a great night's sleep. It wasn't a 'show off hotel' but provided a stay of quality I've not experienced elsewhere. The location was perfect for a relaxed weekend and we will be returning to the area to take advantage of the many things we 'tasted' during our first visit. We loved the swimming/spa and sauna facilities. It was a special weekend for us and we were hoping to find a hotel we would enjoy returning to. We did!

On the Saturday evening after our return to the hotel, there was only one parking space left in the car park and we were concerned about where we could have parked.

    Good

    Leaving

We had booked 2 nights in the Lodore Falls for our anniversary; something we've been promising ourselves and looking forward to for 2 years, the delay due to health issues. The room we were given was small for a twin room. We went for lunch my partner found a live slug in the salad. After a meeting with the duty manager about poor quality control and hygene in their kitchen, we checked out within an hour of arriving, and we were not charged for the lunch!

    Superb

Fabulous food in the restaurant. Staff attentive and polite without being obsequious. Wonderful setting (great view of lake from our room). Tranquil atmosphere.

The only criticism was the requirement to sign for each individual drink during our meals - this seemed an unnecessary interruption - surely it would be better to sign for them all at the end of each evening? Also, the young woman on reception at the spa seemed a little unprofessional and unfocused on her job.
